The tradition of a birthday party started as a way to ward off evil spirits, starting in the middle ages, people believed you were at your weakest on the day you were born. To protect against evil spirits taking over their body, they would surround themselves with friends and family whose love would protect them from harm. Michael Alan's Birthday will be a 5 hour performance were 20 performers will act out strange unusual birthday costumes from over 20 countries in the world. We will examine what it means to have a birthday, celebrating everyone in the room, audience members will be praised and invited on stage to eat cake and draw with the party, at a special time the party will act out scenes from Alice and wonderland.
